Trivia Question

Q: A trend over the past 10 to 20 years shows younger Canadians are waiting longer to do this. What is it?
A: Get their driver’s license.

Drivers’ education providers have observed that new drivers today tend to be older on average than in the past. For example, some data from driving schools in Canada show the average age of students remains around ~20 years, consistent through a decade — suggesting many learners aren’t teens but young adults.

Surveys and research from broader contexts (including Ontario teen surveys) have estimated that only about two-thirds of youth aged 16-19 had obtained a licence by that age, rather than near-universal licensing among teens that was more common in earlier generations.
