I'm Stacey Englehart. Well, it's election day in Ontario. Voters in more than 400 municipalities will pick their local candidates. The rise in homelessness across the province, one of the more pressing issues mayors and councilors will face in today's municipal elections. According to a September provincial report by the Financial Accountability Office, Branford was ranked 6th in homelessness across the province. Now keep in mind, acceptable ID includes A valid Ontario driver's license, Ontario photo card, utility bill, a bank or credit card statement, property tax statement, or a signed lease or rental agreement. Canadian passports are not accepted because they don't list your physical home address. Ontario politicians returned from their spring summer break last time they were in office, June 2nd, over five months ago. Three new MPPs will enter the legislature after a trio of by-elections in September. And it appears they're helping Canadians stay poor one rate hike at a time. Expectations rising that the Bank of Canada will indeed raise interest rates this week. While it seems a little cray-cray to hike rates at one of the worst times, sky-high groceries, sky-high gas prices, massive job losses according to jobs data, but they do it to stop us from spending to quote unquote keep inflation in check.
